Now I still like Bohemian Rhapsody for what it is, all things considered, but it’s cliche in one too many areas to be original, feels far too generic to be considered completely memorable and it felt more like a melody than something that belongs to their greatest hits collection. But “Rocketman” is the far superior rock biopic, for it exceeds in whatever aspects Bohemian Rhapsody failed at and, at times, does some scenes better. Taron Egerton holds the entire film up with a phenomenally wicked performance which doesn’t mimic Elton but adds more to the mans legacy, most of the writing stays true to its source material and sometimes tends to go and beyond the basic fundamentals, the movie is a beautiful spectacle of colors, sound, paraphernalia, all that that is marvelous and wonderful about Elton and unlike last years biopic, this film takes advantage of the fact that it is a full-fledged musical yet doesn’t hold anything back.

The songs once again are the best part of the story, for they become the driving force behind all of Elton’s troubles and insecurities about being unloved and unwanted and give insight to the tragic, heartbreaking life he lived.

Combine all that together and you get the film that Bohemian Rhapsody NEEDED to be. This.......THIS is something completely unparalleled to what last year brought us and I can only hope that this film, at least, gets nominated for an Oscar since Bohemian Rhapsody did the same.

Regardless.....this was a wild blast of a ride.
