The only good thing about this film was the character progression of Campbell. He starts the film as a sniveling coward and at the end of the film he learns to stand up for himself. Although sometimes it was erratic, several times when you thought he had finally learned his lesson he would revert back to the coward.

This movie had all the comedic potential you could possibly want, but it failed to deliver a constant stream of laughs. The only true laugh-out-loud moment was in the third act in a moment at Campbell's daughter's talent show act. Jillian Bell was completely underused and force to deliver an inappropriate and unsophisticated line of humor. In his return to the big screen, Tracy Morgan was tragically wasted. Reduced to the victim of senior pranks and the purveyor of horrible ideas for Campbell. Neither Ice Cube or Day really gave a character that was memorable, leaving the final confrontation meaningless. All of this made the 91-minute runtime feel like 3 hours.

With an inconsistent level of comedy and inconsistent character development, this film wasn't really good or bad it. But I will say as a fan of the comedy genre, we deserve better and as the son of an educator, the message this film sends is somewhat disturbing.
