You're Next is a new film that is a throwback to old films in the slasher genre. The film feels very 80's but with a modern style. Adam Wingard did a great job directing this, the practical effects were consistent and the masks that the intruders wore were terrifying (animal masks? No thanks). But, like many films in the genre, the characters were lifeless and expendable. It's just a gorier version of The Strangers. Whilst I do appreciate why people will really love this film for its nostalgic purpose, it just wasn't for me. It's good, not great. Although killing someone with a blender and turning it on...priceless.0 member like this review.
