  • The Cabin in the Woods is genius. It deconstructs horror films to the bare bones. Whether you find it decisive or clever, is up to you...I for one found it refreshing. Harking back to classic horror and slasher films and turning it around. The blonde? The fool? The jock? The virgin? All these typical character traits in horror films are cleverly utilised. Would I call this a horror though? No, more of a gory comedy. Criticising the acting is difficult, because they are imitating old films however there is a great cameo from Sigourney Weaver and the officer workers have some good dialogue and banter. Also loved the various amount of creatures used in the final act, some more stupid than others. The ending is abrupt and slightly bad, but looking past it this is actually a clever film that you should give some attention.
