  The Emperor's New Groove is my favourite animated film. I absolutely adore this animated masterpiece. It had a rough development (in fact there is a documentary about it), originally it was going to be a musical. I'm so thankful it didn't end up that way, because this is just comedy GOLD! Yes people, this film makes me laugh consistently...probably the only film to do so. One of the first and only Disney films that feels like a comedy. Many scenes look like sketches and yet they are woven together to make a coherent story. Many memorable characters, from the arrogant greedy Emperor Kuzco to the evil villainess Yzma. Kuzco is turned into a llama (accidentally) so that Yzma can take over the throne, he is then teamed up with a peasant to take him back to his palace and transform back into a human. Relatively simple story, but the rough partnership between them changes Kuzco's attitude...which is the message of the film: kindness. Pacha's kindness affects Kuzco and he soon starts being kind to others, good message for the younger audience. Also Kronk, Yzma's assistant, is absolutely hilarious. Got to love him! The voice acting suits every character perfectly, John Goodman and Patrick Warburton are the stand outs. The script is memorable, so memorable that I know if off by heart...particularly the scene where Yzma wants to turn Kuzco into a flea! The animation is fluid, colourful and bright. Everything about this film is perfect and memorable, the comedy feels fresh and...and...urgh I love it. The only Disney film I watch annually and have done since I was a child. This overlooked beauty gets the perfect rating.
