When you get down to the latter, I don’t know whether or not I should look at ”Glass” as half empty or half full. While it proves to not be UNBREAKABLE, it doesn’t SPLIT expectations nor did the slightest crack give me any sort of reason to rage quit. Now, let’s get this straight: I’m not saying I despise this movie. I don’t HATE it at all. There are a lot of factors about this film that I like and there are other factors that I absolutely love. But I was expecting the movie I was gonna see to be a lot more creative, a lot more conclusive and a hell of a lot less frustrating. The acting is a definite plus, it’s well-directed, well shot, there’s, of course, a lot of tension and suspense as there is, a surprisingly amount of action taking place in this movie and it does sort of tie in the two other films well enough to the best of its ability and the first 30 to 35 minutes are amazing. It is creative in a lot of ways and I can’t take anything away from Shyamalan but what good is that if the writing doesn’t capitalize on that? That what really kills me about this film: the writing.

It’s one thing to actually have the premise planned out and ready to roll but it’s another to actually be able to execute it. And the way this film executes its way of telling the story is more perplexing than it is infuriating. A few one liners aside, not much of the dialogue is good, there are moments where it suffers a lot in tone and too little too late did I realize the characters aren’t as important as originally thought. Yes, the acting behind said characters can add more to their personality but it does relatively little to shield the fact that Shyamalan had absolutely no idea what to do with his own creations.

And yeah, I didn’t mind the ending but as a twist, It just baffles my mind as to how he felt this was actually ok. Could be better, could’ve been worse. But really, it could’ve been better. For now, this Glass will remains unbroken.
