The Dark Phoenix saga is 0-2 on the silver screen.

FOX’s X-Men series closes in the most humiliating fashion possible as “Dark Phoenix” squanders and nearly incinerates everything the series had established so well in the past. It’s almost insulting that THIS is the OFFICIAL end to 19 years of very provocative films that changed the superhero genre long before the MCU came along......cause if anything, It should’ve ended with Logan. What we get here is a shell, a decaying, rotting shell of what could’ve been a decent if not tolerable attempt to bring the classic 90’s and this is what is given to us: Lackluster action (with one exception), absolutely no story to speak of with a worthless sub-plot, dull uninspired acting, disposable dialogue, generic directing, muddled screenplay with awkward editing, the backtracking of multiple character developments reducing multiple characters to filler, the actual Phoenix force might as well be a symptom for drug abuse and have I mentioned that Charles Xavier is a bit of a douche in this? I know it’s supposed to be part of his character arc here but still.

Have I mentioned how irresponsible he acts? Have I mentioned how dumb most of the decisions are that these characters make? Have I mentioned how laughable this entire production is because I don’t think I made it clear enough how boring it is. I—I’m can’t honestly be mad at this because I sort of saw this coming.

Burying the hatchet and burning the legacy of this once great series, it ends not with a bang or stutter or even a whimper but more like a giant F-U to whoever supported this franchise since then. It’s very bland all the way to the end and like I’ve motioned before, sometimes being bland is worse than sucking.
