Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase won’t be all that memorable down the road but as far as a remake goes, this one isn’t half bad. While the writing can get topsy-turvy at times and the story can get predictable, there’s this undeniable sense of charm and adventure you get from watching this mystery unfold more and more and the relatable characters further bolster you to keep going through it. And Sophia Lillis made for a very captivating, relatable, fun-loving portrayal of Nancy Drew in my opinion......this coming from someone who’s never read any of the books. Sure, the tone felt off at a few separate scenes and I wish they could’ve explored more into the reality and gratifications of the real world into how Nancy operates and does her thing but
we know how these stories normally turn out and as long as it keeps our interests, then it’s done it’s job.

And I really couldn’t help myself, watching the entire thing chuckling with this big fat smile over my face.

Now I know I shouldn’t take that ending seriously cause I’m aware that Nancy Drew films have never really had enough staying power to garner sequels but you never know. So until further notice, the mystery is solved and this case is closed.
