The Judge is part family drama and courtroom drama. The blend actually worked quite well! Robert Duvall and Downey Jr. own every scene they are in...which does cause problems. They are too powerful for the film, it doesn't make the characters emotionally investing. It's a long drama, and unfortunately only picks up when focusing on the courtroom scenario. Plus, Billy Bob Thornton was criminally underused. It's a fine film, just not very memorable. Robert Duvall is absolutely incredible in this though.0 member like this review.
