Talitha Bateman was a stand out as Janet. As was Lulu Wilson as Linda. Their sister-like relationship gave the film stakes. Sandberg's use of creepy visuals was more effective to than the best jump-scares. Some of the ways he shot certain sequences made my skin crawl.

Getting into the negatives, the pacing of the film was slightly uneven. The biggest problem with this film was the plot. Annabelle: Creation could be any nameless haunting film, the plot of this film is so generic and predictable you can see everything coming from a mile away. My second issue was the pacing. The film was slow for about the first 45 minutes and once it started to pick up in the third act there was a scene of exposition that felt like a slam on the brakes. The film also relied heavily on jump-scares and the predictable and the generic plot made the scares feel hollow.

Overall, Annabelle: Creation was a marked improvement over the previous installment. Sandberg is definitely a director to keep your eye on showing he's not just a one-hit wonder. Even with a paint-by-numbers plot and a heavy amount of jump scares, the film had plenty of creepy visuals.
