Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is the perfect adaptation of the graphic novels. It captured the absolute essence of the novels including its style, dialogue and geeky references. Heck, even the Universal logo was full of video game greatness. The Legend of Zelda sound effects, the on screen descriptions of the characters, the on screen onomatopoeic words like "crash", "bam!"...it's just the perfect adaptation of a comic. Ok Luke, stay focussed. The acting is perfect and Michael Cera suits the awkwardness of Scott Pilgrim. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is beautiful and makes it believable that Scott could fall in love with Ramona Flowers and her ever so colourful hair...after defeating the League of Evil Exes of course. The script is genius with such memorable quotes as "Im in lesbians with you" or "bread makes you fat!?" or even the Pac-Man anecdote (Quite literally I could recite the whole film). Edgar Wright continues his traits of visual comedy and flair which perfectly suits the film...he was the perfect choice for director. It's quick, quirky and he uses many different techniques. Each battle is memorable and completely over-the-top, including battling with a giant mallet or pulling a sword out from Scott's heart...it's ridiculously great. The music that Sex Bob-omb (Scott's band) plays are catchy as well, particularly "Threshold". It's clear this has a cult following, and it's double clear that I'm apart of that following because this film so damn enjoyable, so damn fun and so damn perfect. So Scott Pilgrim consequently gets the perfect rating. I am in lesbians with this film.
