  • WHAT I LIKED: Rightfully earning its pedestal position within modern cinema history, 'Blade Runner' truly is one of the most immersive, intelligent and original sci-fi blockbusters ever made, and this is largely thanks to Ridley Scott who brilliantly brings his ability to build incredible sensation into to a thematic and character-driven narrative that we can all engage with ten-fold. Indeed far more than in 'Alien' or his first venture 'The Duellists,' what's apparent here is that there's real intent to build a meaningful story and a set of characters woven within the themes and world, and this is very much a success not least because the script and cast are so good, but also because Ridley's world and the ideas within it are predictably and yet still mind-blowing-ly tangible and fascinating.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: There are certainly moments that feel a little like they're building plot simply for the sake of it.
VERDICT: One of the most interesting and well-constructed sci-fi movies of all time; 'Blade Runner' gives Ridley Scott's unprecedented talent the room - and heart - that it deserves to make for one truly brilliant piece of film.
