Thúy An (full name Nguyễn Thị Thúy An, born December 24, 1958 in An Giang province) is a retired Vietnamese actress. She was most famous in the 1970s and 1980s, beginning her career in 1978 with the feature debut of Nguyễn Hồng Sến, "Whirlwind Season" (Mùa gió chướng). Her most memorable roles are Sáu Xoa in "The Abandoned Field: Free Fire Zone" (Cánh đồng hoang, d. Nguyễn Hồng Sến, 1979); Thùy Dung in the first three episodes of the TV series "Cards on the Table" (Ván bài lật ngửa, d. Lê Hoàng Hoa, 1982-1987); and Ngọc Lan in the TV series "Saigon Rangers" (Biệt động Sài Gòn, d. Long Vân, 1982-1986). Thúy An is considered one of the leading actors of Vietnamese revolutionary cinema. Most of her film credits are associated with director Hồng Sến, who was her husband until his death in 1995 that also marked her retirement from acting. Thúy An currently resides in Germany with her second husband and her daughter from her first marriage.
