My favorite film of 2017, Lady Bird is one of the most earnest and painfully honest representations of teenage life. Greta Gerwig’s soul was poured into a wholly organic film about the natural progression of teenage life (post 9/11), individualized by its eccentric and endearing characters. The script for Lady Bird is not just unique, but hilarious, and highly nuanced in its narrative. The film incites a bit of a melancholic feeling, but with the downs of teenage years comes the ups, and the melancholic tone is juxtaposed with the unpredictable euphoria. Lady Bird is one of the most earnest, and enjoyable coming of age stories in recent memory, and just as I experienced a deep emotional experience with Logan, I experienced the same with Lady Bird, but on the other side of the positive spectrum: an ultimate rhapsody.
