SLENDER MAN is a terrible film! And this is coming from one of those crazy people who likes bad horror movies. With the exception of one particularly beautiful shot and one solid performance, I hated everything about this movie. The story is very slow paced and boring and even felt a bit cartoonish. With most horror films, the story attempts to at least convince the viewer that this entity is real and it could happen to you, that is what brings fear to people the most. SLENDER MAN on the other hand, just tosses you into the world and expects you to be scared of this highly unrealistic and at times humorous entity. This result in a film that I didn't find even remotely scary.

I also found that the film was darkened far to much. They clearly did it to create a creepy tone for the film, but I just found myself wondering "why the hell doesn't anyone in this town turn on lights?!?!"

With all of that aside, there were two things I liked about this film. First is this stunningly beautiful shot of Annalise Basso's red hair blowing in the wind while starring into the woods in slow montion. While a shot like this is clearly not enough of a reason to run out and see the movie, I was very impressed with it. The second positive I wanted to mention, was Julia Goldani Telles performance. I haven't seen much of her before, but I would like to see more. Her performance wasn't mind-blowing, but I do think she did a solid job with the source material she was given.

SLENDER MAN is not worth seeing in theaters and honestly, I wouldn't really recommend it even for at home viewing.
