Heartwarming and humorous, About a Boy is a comforting watch with a wonderfully vile protagonist. Hugh Grant has a real talent portraying someone so grotesque, and that is a compliment it really is. His ability to be ceaselessly charming while saying the most revolting things is unparalleled.
Nicholas Hoult, a very young Nicholas Hoult, holds his own against heavyweight Grant as well as Toni Collette and Rachel Weisz. The film is touching with a joyfully unpleasant main character which we love to watch grow.1 member likes this review.
