The USS Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.
In a year filled with depressing super hero movies, disappointing blockbusters, and subpar comedies, Star Trek Beyond is like a breath of fresh air. It delivered what it set out to. Please audiences with its exhilarating action, great acting all across the board, and amazing CGI. I'm just going to put it out there, I have never watched the television series, or the original films, just the new J.J Abrams series of films. While I did quite enjoy the first in the series, I was not a fan of Into Darkness, nor was I that excited for Beyond. The only reason I saw this was to pay respect to the late Anton Yelchen, and because we recently got D-Box in my local theatre, and this was the best reviewed film that was offered in D-Box. I'm glad I chose Star Trek Beyond because it is now my 2nd favorite blockbuster of 2016, behind Civil War. The action was great, the performances were phenomenal, the standouts in my opinion being Karl Urban’s Bones, Simon Pegg’s Scotty, and Idris Elba’s Krall, Sofia Boutella's Jaylah, Zachary Quinto's Spock and of course, Anton Yelchen's Chekov. The CGI was phenomenal, the scene where they introduce Yorktown legitimately took my breath away. Although the first half of the film isn't as good as the second half, but the final act makes up for it. Star Trek Beyond was one of the best times I've had at the cinema all year. I recommend everyone to see this. If you want to enjoy it even more, see it in D-Box. I give Star Trek Beyond an 8/10.
