Caught a little interest in seeing Gerald's Game which I heard it's based on the Stephen King novel. From the way I saw for the first time I thought it was nothing that special but upon looking at the reviews it got, it got some praise, maybe not important but decent. Jessie and Gerald Burlingame played by Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood, arrive at an isolated lake house for a romantic getaway. Jessie feeds the raw beef to a stray dog outside and Gerald restrains her with a set of handcuffs locked to the bedposts and decides to a game with her but she felt uncomfortable, telling him to stop and uncuff her. After a heated argument, he dies of a heart attack leaving her trapped in the handcuffs. Gerald however stands up and begins talking; when Jessie notices his body remains on the floor, she realizes she is hallucinating. He taunts her about the truths of her childhood past and she also hallucinates a more self-assured version of herself, who explains things about her and Gerald that she never had the courage to acknowledge. So they begin to taunt her about her dark past. Despite that this is considered to be psychological horror thriller, I didn't find it to be scary. For f**ks sake, do I have to go through this again? I mean it does have this haunting feel to it but it doesn't come close to be a horror film but yeah, it is psychological but not really scary in my eyes but it does a mysterious person in her vision who looked like a corpse. Yeah, it is what it is, a simple plot about her getting handcuffed in the bed and started having hallucinations about her husband and herself. She gets handcuffed throughout the entire movie. Nothing more. Before twenty minutes ended it does go to the more disturbing part which is not comfortable viewing in anybody's eyes so be warned about that. Despite that I enjoyed for what it is I found it to be decent watch, not awesome but enjoyable nonetheless. Next time you'll be seeing The Fall of the House of Usher starring the same cast of Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood including Henry Thomas and Kate Siegel and directed by the same director. So yeah, I hope this is much better.
