  • WHAT I LIKED: Where the second Inbetweeners movie easily trumps its predecessor is firstly that it delves deeper into the ridiculous expectations set for many young men, and also that its comedic territory extends beyond that to the absurdity of many people's crazy travel habits. Yes by sending the group away to Australia and allowing them to meet a group of peace-loving backpackers travelling across the country, what you get is some genuinely laugh-out-loud deconstructions of that stuff, and also more of the group struggling to live up to their usual laddish expectations. There's one particularly hilarious scene involving a 'healing fire,' and one rather touching one where the boys reach rock bottom and begin to realise how ridiculous their expectations are, and in the end all of that means it's a far more successful adaptation of the source material that works as a comedic movie far more than the first attempt.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It's nothing more than what it's trying to be, but it's also important to remember that what it's trying to be is not a simple glorification of all the behaviour in display.
VERDICT: A film with wider comedic chops than the first and where the characters are explored to a far more engaging degree, 'The Inbetweeners 2,' is far far better than its predecessor, and is actually a rather successful lengthening of the TV series.
