  I think I set myself up for too much with this film initially. I presumed I would feel an overwhelming sense of empathy for the protagonist but I just didn’t.
  What doesn’t seem right about this film, at least in my experience, is its half-hearted attempt at persuading an audience to respond to the characters. Understand them and ultimately feel sympathy for them.
  I really didn’t like either of the characters. I didn’t ever feel invested in their story or it’s outcome. I am unable to tell if I was supposed to feel sad about them not ending up together (I would warn with a spoiler but the title reveals the romances expiry date) or not.
  To me,at least, I didn’t understand the hype around it. Ultimately it felt beige. It had brief moments of prettiness but that didn’t hide its lack of depth.
