  • WHAT I LIKED: Georges Méliès' most renowned work 'Le Voyage dans la Lune,' is a significant moment in the evolution of narrative cinema as it successfully tells a full fictional story with its distinctive set design and theatrical style. Yes the stylistic scene work here really is wonderfully artistic, and when you couple that with Méliès' growing theatrical and satirical style, you get a film that has naturally influenced cinema since its release and that equally works brilliantly in its own right at the same time.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The final product is slightly daffy, but then that's almost the idea.
VERDICT: Often deemed the first science fiction film, 'Le Voyage dans la Lune,' is a very appealing and exceedingly influential film that every Cinephile should see. It's even on YouTube after all.
