Surrounding an initially conventional biopic is a fascinating, cinematic dissection of a character and the horrifying power he unleashed. Oppenheimer treats the creator of the atom bomb as just another tool of the men in charge, and through Nolan’s visceral visions, the terrifying force he unleashed for leaders to possess hangs extremely heavy when you leave the theatre.
