  • If you think that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has done a great job in filling in their timeline, Doctor Strange, though, tries its best to fit in, but does a great job in standing on its own by delving too much in the history and background of our charismatic titular character. Played by Benedict Cumberbatch, Stephen Strange's tale starts when he embarks upon a spiritual path through the use of mystic arts and supernatural powers.

Cumberbatch is truly irreplaceable as The Sorcerer Supreme. He exactly knows how to handle the arrogant, brilliant and funny side of the main protagonist. Hear that? Sounds Starkly familiar, right? But the film also deserves to give props to its star-studded cast - it features Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Mads Mikkelsen.

So, whether you loved the movie or not, there's no denying that the special effects crew specializes in turning the imaginary into reality (or the other way around). And fortunately, these astonishing spectacles are elevated by the action-packed sequences.

True, it gets too formulaic at times to other MCU films - origin story, and then an intrapersonal conflict and finally, an action-heavy third act. Sadly, the movie's main antagonist (Mikkelsen) is a stereotypical figure, but at least, there's pleasure to be found with him, in one particular scene.

VERDICT: Doctor Strange is a mediocre yet perplexing mythical reverie that executes the imaginary and realistic sides of the Marvel movies.
