Although it isn't as neatly set out as Inside Out, Soul revives the factory-like concept of meaningful aspects of life; in this case, the creation of a soul. This play on words also connects to the film's musical connection, allowing for a sumptuous Jazz score that dances its way through the entire film.

It goes without saying that the quality of Pixar's animation is top tier but one scene in Soul truly gives grounding to such high praise. Terry, the soul counter travels to Earth to find Joe and 22. All of the soul guidance counselors, including Terry, are 2D sprites, reminiscent of the Pixar SHort Night and Day. The effect of having Terry, a 2D, traditionally drawn cartoon, step into the world of Pixar animation tricks the eye. Suddenly, the film becomes Who Killed Roger Rabbit, with animation integrating itself into the real world. Yet it isn't! It's all animated! The effect is something one can only see to believe, acting as a testament to Pixar's extraordinary talent.
