A psychological horror which comes from a truly fresh perspective; one that is horrifying outside of fiction. Marvelous performances anchor the somewhat unbelievable spirit of the story, a creature which seems to have come out of nowhere. However, I am an ambiguity addict so this could be pure preferential piffle. Have I just summarised film Criticism?

It is a genuinely tense movie where the jumpscares, which are earned for the most part, are nicely married with scenes of emotional terror. Interestingly, the most effective of these takes place outside of the realms of horror fiction, instead giving us a weighty feeling of dread in gritty reality. The final moments of the film, with incredibly powerful shots, punch you like Mike Tyson. This is a real gem; a film which is at once entertaining and impactful.
