This coming of age/horror mish-mash pulls on Don't Look Now and Saint Maud to sprinkle a thin layer of dread over the entire film. Throughout, the bleak Butlins trailer park is cold and empty. At night, it's doused in an orange glow. The central relationship between Ruth (played observantly by Molly Windsor) and Tom (Joseph Quinn) crumbles, one monosyllabic response after the next. In the meantime, Jade's (Stefanie Martini) trailer, which, in retrospect to the rest of the site, seems to exist in its contemporary universe, grows warmer and warmer. The film maintains this sense of dread until you finally click and understand what's going on. As the penny drops, however, you realise that your engagement fizzles out. You hope that, perhaps, your expectations will be subverted once more. But nay. It ends as it should but without giving the audience even a wave goodbye.
