  • There's a new world coming in the fantasy-adventure movie "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", based from the best-selling YA novel written by Ransom Riggs. It tells the story of a woman who shelters a set of children who has extraordinary abilities.

Imagine a world where the X-Mansion meets Hogwarts. And yes, on literary form, this movie seems to be the comfort zone for Tim Burton to showcase his visual flair and wicked whimsicalities - but so is “Dark Shadows” and “Alice in Wonderland”.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is the perfect definition of incoherent. It is a jumbled movie comprised by the poor storytelling of Jane Goldman. Perhaps, our soulless, one-dimensional Chosen One played by Asa Butterfield is boring as hell. It also never sticks to the memory and does not feel like a part of the Burton kingdom.

As for some praises, Eva Green plays the titular role, and for the most parts, her presence brings life and hope to the entire cast. There are also some wondrous sequences designed with magical visuals and shots.

VERDICT: Over his plenty past films, Burton has turned to be a hit-and-miss filmmaker and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children definitely is a miss.
