WHAT I LIKED: There’s very few films out there that successfully engage you in what is effectively the entire life story of one man, but ‘Forrest Gump’s’ magnificent charm and Tom Hanks’ unsurprisingly magnetic performance is what makes this one of the most all-consuming and emotional experiences you could ever have at the movies. Yes in a way it’s this cramming of significant moments into one duration that means we can be so overwhelmed, however it can equally be said that all of that would have been entirely fruitless if it wasn’t grounded in some sort of humanity to attach us in the first place. Luckily then, this film found that solace in the magnificent Tom Hanks who unlocks engagement and emotion like no one else could.
WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE: Some argue the themes are questionable, but I think they might be missing the point...
VERDICT: One of the most all-consuming and amazing films of all; ‘Forrest Gump’ is a classic for good reason, and it will always be one of my personal favourites.1 member likes this review.
