  • WHAT I LIKED: Back in 2012 I defended 'The Bourne Legacy' as an entry that lived up to the greatness of its franchise predecessors, and again, in 2016, I find myself doing exactly the same thing for the brilliant 'Jason Bourne.' Yes if anything, with Paul Greengrass returning this time, I believe that this is the most politically minded and ambitious film we've ever seen from the series to date, as the ideas here dictate the direction of the story itself as opposed to serving as a suggestive backdrop. It's all about privacy and authority, and it largely does a great job of dealing with all that in an interesting and exciting way.
Exciting it is too as all the usual top-class action, character involvement and tension builds to one truly explosive finale that rivals the franchise's most exciting sequences.
WHAT I LIKED: I do agree that in dealing with its ideas more prominently, its script often lacks the finesse for things to feel properly transcendent.
VERDICT: Another impressive film from the Bourne franchise; I genuinely love 'Jason Bourne,' just as much as the others, and I really do hope they make a 6th.
