  • It has been nine years since we've seen Matt Damon as the ultimate assassin Jason Bourne at all out action. And upon the request of fans, Paul Greengrass, the Bourne trilogy director and the producers decided to make a sequel, but the problem is, they seemingly couldn't think of a new concept to recycle the ideas revolving around the first three movies.

After almost a decade, the director's collaboration with his stars, specifically Damon is still dynamic. Yes, Jason Bourne consists full-throttle action set pieces which are accompanied by Greengrass' vigorous take and energetic technique. But really, who cares when it's the same old thing all over again?

The movie contains tense performances from its newcomers and adrenaline-fueled moments, particularly two action scenes. And at least, it somehow manages to place itself inside the Bourne trilogy. However, the film lacks to build engaging main antagonists (Cassel & Jones), unlike what the three past films did.

VERDICT: At the end of the day, “Jason Bourne” exceeds the expectations of fans, but it also suffers from the "Run out of Idea Syndrome in Hollywood".
