  WHAT I LIKED: Men wishing to "have," a woman, one who's obsessed with them, will do anything for them, even at the expense of themselves, is hardly an unexplored horror. But Curry Barker's 'Obsession,' realises it in terrifying detail, as one man's wish inadvertently imprisons a young woman in the body of a doting, obsessive pawn.
  
  Indie Narravette puts in an absolute powerhouse of a performance as Nikki; flitting on a diam between freakishly doe-eyed subservience, and bitter, rageful jealousy; turning up the dials on poisonous romance ideals that we're all too familiar with. The idea is that we should be careful what we wish for, as any desire for such an obsessive partner automatically comes from a place of abuse and manipulation.
  
  But it also creates an atmosphere of brilliantly unnerving tension where you're never quite sure what's coming next, and Michael Johnston provides a way into that as the increasingly terrified object of Nikki's affections.
  
  WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The message is slightly undermined by the fact this dude never actually wished for what he got; he merely wished for his crush to love him, never the kind of unconditional, obsessive love that we end up seeing.
  
  Also, it has to be said that things do get a little repetitive after a while.
  
  VERDICT: Though the delivery of its message gets slightly muddied, Curry Barker's 'Obsession,' brilliantly realises the horrific abuse that lies behind any wish for a doting partner.
