The new reboot of Tomb Raider with Alicia Vikander is a fun and exciting ride! Is it deep? No, of course not - it's a movie based on a video game. If you're expecting world-class storytelling, this isn't it. If though, you're looking for a lot of action, a decent story, a believable protagonist whom you want to root for, and a great villain, then you'll have fun with this one.

I like that the film gives Lara Croft, played by Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander, some back-story and character development. We're not just thrust into the story of her trying to find something - we actually get to see her in her life, and can then connect with her.

Walton Goggins is excellent as the antagonist Vogel. He's very credible in his motivations and I loved how he portrayed the jaded character.

Being a huge Nick Frost fan, I loved his cameo in the film. Be sure to stay into the end credits for another scene with Nick...and the story.

The story shares quite a bit with 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade' and not just because Lara Croft is basically the female version of Indiana Jones...when you see it, you'll get it. The film was so much fun that I was able to overlook the similarities in story.

The end is a bit over-dramatic and far-fetched, but again, it's a live-action video game - ignore some of the implausibility and just have fun. I recommend seeing Tomb Raider!
