  • WHAT I LIKED: After a fairly disappointing sequel to 'Jurassic Park,' many regard this third installment as a similar failure, but where Joe Johnston's efforts undoubtedly succeed most here are in the fact that it's now all about the characters over anything else. Yes with a narrative entirely focused on finding a family's lost son marooned on the Jurassic island of Sorna, this suddenly becomes a much more personal adventure where the characters' arcs are given real development. This means you care about them far more, and the action that felt mindless in the previous installments now feels genuinely perilous and engaging.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The thematic elements of the first two films have largely flown out of the window now, so it's arguably a blockbuster with lesser ambitions.
VERDICT: A sequel that focuses more on its characters and that consequently winds up better than many give it credit for, 'Jurassic Park III,' is an engaging - if less thematic - sequel from this infamous franchise.
