  • WHAT I LIKED: This series just seems to get more thoughtful and thematic as it progresses, and in a way, ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2’ is the perfect accumulation of all of that as it’s much slower and gives real time to exploring the nature of politics and war in a rather comprehensive way. Outside of that, the slower pace also gives time to round out Katniss rather well whilst building an epic, all-consuming and eerie visual experience, and in the end it winds up a much slower and considered piece of film than you might expect.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The slower pace could equally be interpreted as dragging out the last book, and there are times when the bigger moments get lost in translation thanks to their sheer length.
VERDICT: The last Hunger Games film is a pretty well-constructed and thoughtful one that rounds out the brilliant series in a far more considered and slowly-paced way than you’d probably expect.
