  • WHAT I LIKED: No matter your pre-conceptions, there's simply no denying that 'The LEGO Batman Movie' is one properly intelligent and properly funny film that does satire and subject commentary as well as the best. Now agreeably, one has to have some understanding of Batman's history to get it, but once you're there you'll most definitely have an absolute ball and begin to properly admire the work on display. Indeed not only is the script extremely smart and snappy, but the animation and voice cast who bring it all to life - in particular Will Arnett - are all genuinely magnificent.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: There's not a lot more to it than reams of satirical jokes, which are certainly big achievements, but don't necessarily make a movie in themselves.
VERDICT: A properly smart, properly amusing commentary that will have you grinning in admiration throughout; 'The LEGO Batman Movie' deserves serious recognition, even if it's a few steps away from a whole cinematic experience.
