The beginning of one of the biggest movie franchises in the world. Dr no is the first movie that spawned a franchise of over 20 films. There's no wonder why as the movie is superb from the second we meet the stupendous James Bond played by the legendary Sean Connery in a role that he would make his own symbolizing the spy genre with his charm and coolness in performances (starting here) that actors even 5 decades later will fail to replicate. This movie also brings the figure of the iconic "Bond girl" played in its inception by the stunning Ursula Andreas. We are also introduced to the Bond tropes of exotic locations, a mysterious villain and the aide of M and the lovely Miss Moneypenny. However this film also does introduce to the unfortunate trope of James Bond put in a seemingly doomed situation, but somehow being able to literally unbelievably find his way out mostly unscathed and with a dazzling beauty on his arm. The movies immediate sequels are arguably better than this and have better more believable conclusions but that doesn't take anything away from the pure brilliance that Terence Young was able to produce in the initial 007 film.
