A no-holds barred, viciously gory bloodfest throwback, “3 From Hell”, directed by Rob Zombie, is a schlock horror flick of vulgarity delight that, while doesn’t deliver anything remarkably special, still provides tons of blood, tits, and anything else Zombie has cooking up in the back of his “House of 1,000 Corpses”.

After surviving the onslaught from the previous feature, “The Devil’s Rejects” (2005), crazed killers that are the remaining members of a sadistic family unleash bloody mayhem after escaping from prison.

Lacking any sort of real vision or a captivating narrative, the film just spills the characters we’ve once thought were dead years ago into the outside world to do little more of spouting vulgar dialogue and slaughtering a whole bunch of people. There’s not much substance to the overall film, just blood and guts to keep you mildly entertained for the bulk of the two hour runtime, if you’re into that sort of flick. Criticism aside, there’s some comedically laughable sequences and gruesomely awesome kills sprinkled throughout *one in particular, that involves a clown, and no, he’s not from the sewers* that helps the film not feel like a total waste of time. Mixed into the ugly stew are riveting performances from actor, Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, and Richard Brake. While actress, Sheri Moon Zombie, goes completely over the top bonkers here. Sometimes she can come off as irrationally annoying, however, you can feel the energy she injects into her whimsically malicious character.

“3 From Hell” is just like it’s main characters: disjointed, deranged, crude, and lacking any sort of purpose. It’s a sort of film that you’ll have to look at without a critic’s eye, as it’s nothing more than a disturbingly violent flick with no real outcome. While there’s certain sequences that are entertainingly shocking and humorously crass, included with the performances that are something worth praising towards, Rob Zombie’s latest outing is nothing more than a rather aimless, horrifying journey down to Hell.
