  • WHAT I LIKED: This amazing film takes the fight on a timely issue, and it wins because of its developed characterisation and its tragically poetic story. Yes 'Philadelphia,' genuinely brings a tear yo the eye and engages brilliantly with its touching moments and passing humour and consequently not only makes for a great experience, but also enables the themes to properly transcend off the screen. This emotional development is emphasised ten-fold by the brilliant work of this amazing cast as well a a great soundtrack, and the final result is one of the best movies of the early 90s.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It does manage to tick a few cliché boxes along the way, and the overall arcs are arguably a little thin for a full 2-hour movie. Oh, and three more words? Excessive. Camera. Angles...
VERDICT: A brilliantly touching story that was very pertinent at the time; 'Philadelphia' still packs a huge emotional punch today. What a great film.
