  • WHAT I LIKED: 'Deck the Halls,' is about a man lighting his house to be seen from space, his angry neighbour intent on sabotaging his efforts, and their ultimate, inevitable recognition that family is the only important thing at Christmas. It's a silly story, but it's relatively funny, and the message makes it fairly uplifting in the end.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: The story doesn't really facilitate many successful moments of joy, excitement or tension to engage you in the moment like the best Christmas films do.

VERDICT: A fairly thin and silly story propells this average Christmas film to a predictable if good-natured conclusion. 'Deck the Halls,' is a fine Christmas film, but it's hardly one of the greats.
