  • WHAT I LIKED: Oliver Stone's 'Natural Born Killers,' follows a couple (Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis) who go on a killing spree across the US, but rather than being treated as villains, the pair quickly become cult celebrities famed for their wild freedom. Between the many brutal murder scenes, we get montages of sensationalist news clips and magazine articles fawning over or rebuking them, and Robert Downey Jr's ridiculous journalist character Wayne Gale constantly chasing an interview with them to try and understand them.

Together that results in a fascinating commentary on humanity's most nihilistic fascinations, and when they're eventually imprisoned, that obsession very literally comes back to bite when Gale's involvement creates an opportunity for them to escape and kill him on National television.

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: None of the characters get much serious development, so it ultimately lacks any real grounding or depth. Plus, whilst the crazy editing and cinematography is sometimes captivating, it often goes far enough to completely take you out of the experience.

VERDICT: Though it's fairly surface-level, 'Natural Born Killers,' uses its premise to make an interesting point about our fascination with evil.
