Annihilation is an instant sci-fi classic. With wholly three-dimensional characters, Alex Garland expertly commentates the human condition with allegories of separation, and unification. The pace is deliberate, and allows for the story to unravel uniformly with striking cinematography, and poignant imagery. Overall, the narrative is tight, and the ideas it explores are important, resulting in a magnificent Sci-Fi film that pushes the boundaries of genre film-making.
