Wow. What a stunning cinematic achievement. The non-linear structure of this film makes it all the much better. The films effectiveness in weaving together the stories of multiple characters, intersecting their lives through bittersweet instances lies perfectly in its ability to seamlessly blend personal fates with the bigger picture. Furthermore, the actual technical structure of the film is honestly phenomenal - handheld shots, rapid editing, colorways, etc. They all come together so perfectly, evoking an almost documentary like realism, adding to the rawness of the paradox of life portrayed in the city of god. Not to mention the amazing narration. I was so intrigued with this film (especially when I found out it is based on a true story), completely immersed in wanting to know the story Rocket was telling. This is the type of film that lingers in your mind when the credits roll. Nothing short of extraordinary.
