  • WHAT I LIKED: Like all the best situational comedies, 'Meet the Parents,' is a film that first and foremost builds investing characters and puts them through their paces in a way that's grounded in some form of reality. Yes the title of this film pretty much tells you all you need to know about how the latter objective is achieved here, and the former mainly comes from some smart writing and a great cast who all genuinely deliver and build people that you understand and care about. Add the exaggerated real-life scenarios that come when a young person seeks approval from his difficult in-laws to create some properly cringe-worthy and amusing moments, what you get is a constantly engaging and rather amusing situational comedy that anyone can enjoy.
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE: It's hardly the most intelligent or most hilarious thing to come out of Hollywood, but it works extremely well nevertheless.
VERDICT: A situational comedy with investing characters and great exaggerated situations, 'Meet the Parents,' is as engaging as it is enjoyable, and undoubtedly succeeds where it's trying.
