Poetry on the big screen, Moonlight is a seamless triptych that soothes like the ocean; yet there is a ferocity lurking. The sea and Chiron's world blend, plunging his world into deep blues, giving the film a dreamlike quality. This only builds velocity in the film's intense moments.
Tentative and soft, Jenkins creates a piece which is both soothing and emotionally strong. While the motions of Chiron's world and the sea may be hypnotic, the true hypnotist is the movie itself, never fully revealing it's tricks but allowing for the watcher to just float.0 member like this review.
