As soon as the credits revealed that Strange Days was written by James Cameron, the whole film made so much more sense. Don't get me wrong, Strange Days has a lot to offer. Ralph Fiennes in a very un-Ralph Fiennes role alongside a slew of other famous faces. On top of that, we have the great Kathryn Bigelow directing with an interesting sci-fi concept to grab hardcore sci-fi fans. Yet, the whole thing reeks of Cameron, despite the masses of other talent involved. The film feels like a Bladerunner hangover. This may act as a secondary hit for Bladerunner fans. I just saw it as derivative and a little bit sad. It's still worth watching and is undeniably more digestible than Bladerunner, yet the great Harrison Ford-shaped shadow engulfs this entire production.
