True to its title, The Wailing is a hodge podge of horror elements which makes for a captivating watch. It may teeter on being nonsensical at points, yet it never fails to grab its audience; an impressive feat for a long run-time.

Clearly taking notes from Bong Joon Ho's seminal thriller 'Memories of Murder', The Wailing shifts through many stages, from comedy to fable to biblical epic. Consequentially, some things are lost in the hustle and bustle of the plot while more and more is thrown on the exponential pile.

Yet, through the innumerable twists and turns, ones eyes are glued to the screen, helplessly picking out theme after theme. It's a mighty beast which to some could be heavier on the quantity side. I, for one, believe it is only slightly mass heavy.
