  • Jordan Peele's mind is nothing short of a masterful laboratory of cinematic horror. Peele uses the intrinsic fear of one's inner demons and manifests it on screen as a symphony of evil.

Lupita Nyongo's performance is incredibly terrifying, and her ability to play two starkly different yet intimately compelling characters mustn't go unchecked. The supporting cast all play brilliantly off of Lupita brilliantly, and with great comedic timing, the whole cast really make the movie effective.

Us combines a cacophony of themes like duality, privilege, the american dream and class in order to deliver a scathing critique of mankind; In addition to this, Peele's ability to provide symbols and engage the audience in uncovering them is something I'd love to see more often in modern day cinema. He believes his audience is smart, and acts accordingly.

The cinematography and score manage to be the scariest parts of the movie - providing a haunting audiovisual backdrop to the narrative we're following. The third act in particular features some A+ editing that helps tie some of the film's narrative, themes and symbols together, and in doing so making the movie a wholly satisfying experience

Overall, while it might not be all that scary in itself, Us is an exceptionally well made film that is far more poignant and pensive that more than half of the movies we see regularly. When you combine its themes with the entertaining story and a thrilling score, you get another massive success for Jordan Peele
