  • When the last trailer for this film was realeased, it quickly became one of my most anticipated for the summer. After seeing it, it was definitely worth my time. This is a great thriller! To start, the proformance from Blake Lively was superb. She had to completely carry the movie, and she did it. The shark was great in the film. The CGI for the shark was very good. The shark actually looked real. The building of tension before the attack was great. I kept gripping my seat, anticipating the attack. I also felt a very strong emotional connection to Lively, which is definitely important when your movie only focusses on one character. The cinimotography was just beautiful. It was just a very pretty movie to look at. I also love, just like 10 Cloverfield Lane earlier this year, a character in horror/thriller was smart, and made life saving decisions. As for cons, the ending was pretty over the top, and some stuff just wasn't that believeable. At times, the tone was really weird, especially when the initial attack happens. I also felt that the pacing was a bit slow at times. Throughout the film, the director uses a bunch of Slow Mo, and it did get a little iterating after a while. Overall, the shallows is an suspenseful film with an incredible proformance by Blake Lively, the shark, and a seagull.
