  • I don't see why this film is getting so much hate. I thought it was a charming movie about an eccentric victim who is dealing with PTSD, addiction, and mental illness overcoming his demons and embracing the love that his community surrounds him with. It is a fascinating true story and I love the look and feel of the film. It is weird and I can't believe that a mainstream studio released it in the middle of awards season with the marketing campaign that they did.

However, at the end of the day, I thought this was great. Zemeckis was great to feature a time machine based on the Delorean and computer animated faces that look slightly less creepy than the Polar Express. Steve Carell is a treasure. I think he is best in roles like this, Little Miss Sunshine, and even 40 Year Old Virgin. He seems like damaged goods that I want to see redeemed.
