  • I know this film is considered a classic of the horror genre, so much so that it’s been included in the Criterion Collection, but I really didn’t care for it. The acting and direction is well enough for what it is, but the pacing made me want to pull my hair out. In order to care about the horrors this couple endures, we need to connect to them in some way. Everything that happens, including the overly drawn out love scene, seems to push the viewer away from the story. It’s like you’re the voyeur who only gets to peep into the world of the pianist’s apartment in Rear Window. Yes there are things happening, but do you care, and could there be something more interesting to watch?
